Foreigners cheer tighter business rules
 
Ms Danielle Bray, owner of Expat Insurance, says with the new rules, people know her firm is more committed.
 
Expatriate entrepreneurs here have said that stricter new rules for those setting up shop here - introduced last year - are beginning to show results.  As a result, they added, there is more public trust in their enterprises...
 
...Ms Danielle Bray, 28, an American who owns an insurance agency called Expat Insurance, also welcomed the rules.  She said people have always questioned the viability of small businessees, and it did not help that setting up one was so easy.  In the past, many asked where her office was, and how long she had been in business, as a way of assessing if her outfit was above board.  But with the new regulations, "people know we are more committed", she said.
 
However, Ms Bray said she could see how certain businesses, such as speciality consultants in Web design or social media, run by young entrepreneurs, would need help complying with the rules.  She pointed out that such young business owners might have genuine skills, but the $50,000 requirement might be beyond them...
